Fourth Of July Recap 2015

I just love it when a holiday falls on a weekend.
The Fourth of July on Saturday made for a three day weekend full of festivities, family and fun.

Friday was blueberry muffins, errands and loads of family time with Russ' sister and her kiddos. They only live an hour away but since both of us keep busy schedules we don't often see each other. It is always so good when we do and the cousins have a good time playing together too.

We ate way to much food including "Lemon" Squash pie. I never imagined having squash pie but it was fantastic. Russ' sister is also a great person for me to talk to about home school, gardens, canning and yogurt making. Aah the domestic life :).

Later that eve we headed to another Blasters game. Russ and I had the chance to go on opening night but this was the first time we were able to take the girls.

We scored some awesome seats in a box since Russ' job is a sponsor. It was perfect, the girls were able to enjoy the game when they wanted too but weren't confined to having to sit in the crowd.

We had a great time and hope to catch another game in the near future.

Saturday morning I was up and out the door while my family stayed home and slept. A few weeks back I had won an entry to the Freedom 321 Run race and there was no way I was passing up a free race. It was a bit weird since I was there alone but whatever I did must have worked. I managed to run 3 miles in 25:51 and that was good enough to earn me 1st place in the 30-39 age division.

The rest of the day was spent napping, eating, shopping and playing.

Later we had our traditional ice cream for dessert

Lit off a few fireworks.

I actually remembered to have Russ snap a picture of me with the girls.

Then we headed to a friends house for more fireworks and a lawn movie.

The past few years the Fourth of July has definitely made it's way up my list of favorite holidays. It just feels like the peak of all things summer.

I love summer.

We were so blessed to have such a great weekend together this year with lots of family time.

How was your Fourth?
