Thoughts for Friday: 9.26.14

Hello Friday!

Another busy week of school is done and the girls and I are heading out to our first field trip of the school year this morning. Excitement is high at the Newman house this morning. I just love field trips, nothing has changed over the past 25 years for this girl.

Let's get to it with this weeks Friday picks:

{ONE} Home Tour

If you are half as nosy as me you love the idea of being able to "snoop" around the inside of someones house. Well, I am inviting you to do just that.

This is our home.

On Monday I will be posting a photo tour of the inside.

Our journey with this home started when we lost our home in a tornado, tore a house down, purchased the lot next door to ours and built this custom home. I am so excited to be able to share it with you.

{TWO} Timehop

Random Beth fact: I am a complete sentimental schmuck. I love looking back through old posts, pictures, and status updates.

I may be the last person on earth to discover Timehop, and that is fine. But just in case I am not and you to love looking at old posts and pics, you should check it out. Every day it pulls all of your old photos and status updates so you can reflect back on what you were doing 1, 2, 3 or as far back as your social media thumbprint goes.

{THREE} Memory Verses

Love, love, love this so much. I posted this on my Facebook page, but it was so much cuteness I had to share it here.

{FOUR} Fall Bucket List

On Tuesday I shared our Fall Bucket List.

I can hardly wait to cross something off this weekend.

{FIVE} Pumpkin Everything

Since the beginning of fall... or the beginning of September. I have been baking pumpkin everything. Here are a few recipes I have came across that I have or plan to try in the near future.

Stephanie at Wife Mommy Me posted these amazing Pumpkin Muffin Cakes. Check them out and say hello while you are there.

Yesterday I posted this recipe for Easy Pumpkin Bread.

And these Brown Butter Pumpkin Waffles from Two Peas And Their Pod, UH-Mazing!

Have an awesome Friday and a great weekend.

I will see you back on Monday for my home tour!

Friday Favorites 9.5.14

Another week, another Friday!
I am happy to say that we are wrapping up week #4 of schooling today. That means we have been hitting the books for almost a month now.

Can it be winter break soon?!

Let's get to business with this weeks Friday Five!

{ONE} Pre K: A is for Apple

Our Pre-K approach will be pretty laid back. I wanted to start something with her but I was not ready to get to crazy with the planned curriculum. This week we did A says "A" for Apple.

We worked on writing the letter A. Used some resources from A Teaching Mommy's apple tot pack and worked on an apple craft. Which meant, I took a piece of paper, drew and apple and had her glue little pieces of paper to it. I love me an easy kids craft. Big sister had fun helping to!

We are loving Pre-School!

{TWO} Awana Club

Marissa went to her first Awana meeting this week. I always get so nervous dropping her off at an unfamiliar place where she doesn't know very many people. I have to remind myself that it is good for her. She needs to learn certain skills and that may mean being uncomfortable. I left a very quiet, reclusive little girl and picked up a little lady with a huge smile who was begging to go back before we left!

I am so excited to see how the year goes.

Proverbs 22:6 Train a child in the way they should go...

{THREE} Bagel Love

Just in case you missed it, the Pumpkin Spice Bagel recipe I was talking about last week posted.

I can't get over how easy bagels are to make! After thinking about other fall flavors I spent sometime in the kitchen on Monday experimenting. I made an apple cinnamon bagel that might just be my absolute favorite, EVER. I will have to post that recipe sometime soon.

The other bagel hit in our house has been my Cinnamon Crunch Bagels. Make sure to check out that recipe to.

{FOUR} Guilty

I may or may not be guilty of this one ;).

Speaking of running! I registered for the 2015 Joplin Memorial Run half marathon this week! So excited to get to be a part of such an awesome race again.

Shortly after I registered they posted this

I'm kind of a big deal, HA!

{FIVE} Fall decorating

So I got out my fall decor on Monday. I personally feel that I should be applauded because I did wait until September 1st. The fall decor has been displayed at Hobby Lobby for over 2 months now.

While "decorating" I realized my fall decor and decoration selection stinks. How is it that a lady that has 3, yes 3 Christmas trees only has 3 strands of leaves and a wreath for fall decor. In my defense I am a firm believer that holiday decor is better off to be accrued over time, not bought all at once. But I am sitting in pretty sad shape guys. I spent some time on Pinterest and I found these

Looks like I need to go dig through the hubbies wood scraps and tools and get to work.

Have a great weekend!

Friday Favorites 8.29.14

Friday!

Labor Day weekend is finally here. In my head signifies the close of all things summer, which only makes me want to embrace any and all things fall even more than I already am.

We will be spending the holiday weekend at home, trying to stay cool. Which probably means staying inside, BOO! Unfortunately the summer weather finally decided to kick in just about the same time that the pools closed and school resumed, *deep sigh*. I hope you all have more exciting plans than we do.

Here are this weeks Friday 5!

{ONE} Silver Dollar City Trip

I spent yesterday having fun ,AKA melting, at Silver Dollar City. Meme and Papa wanted to take the girls and they were nice enough to let me tag along to.

The best part about Silver Dollar City with Papa (besides the quality time with Papa, obviously), he spoils us rotten. I am pretty sure I ate about 2 or 3 days worth of calories in 8 hours. Cinnamon rolls the size of your face, funnel cake, pizza, frozen lemonade and taffy. Who could resist a "little" splurging. I would have been rude to say no, right?!

{TWO} Fall Baking

I spent Wednesday in the kitchen experimenting and playing with a new recipe. I can't give to many details away but it is a super yummy easy to make fall flavored bagel and it will be my next contributor post on Beauty Through Imperfection.

So excited about this recipe!

I will keep you posted when it publishes in the next couple weeks.

{THREE} Toothless Grin

I adore this picture. What better way to remember a toothless grin than with an extreme close up.

And just in case you missed it, I dished the dirt on all of the tooth drama that has been our life lately.

{FOUR} Inside Out

Anyone?

Embarrassingly enough I seldom take the time to reverse them when and if I finally do notice.

{FIVE} The Little Old Lady

Fall is on the brain and the other day I just happened to stumble across one of our favorite fall/ Halloween books. Marissa fell in love with this book at Pre-K and it has been a favorite ever since.

If you don't already own it pick up a copy and make sure to check out these adorable printables that make the story even more fun. We put some contact paper on ours in hopes they would last for a few years. Interactive story time at home, it doesn't get much better than that!

Have a great Labor Day weekend!

Oh Hey Friday: Week 1

Oh Hey Friday...
Always a sucker for a Friday link up.

Let's do this Friday thing {fist bump}

{ONE} The Mantle

Our mantle has been hung for about a year now. I was so excited that after living in the house for over a year the living room was FINALLY getting all pieced together. The mantle was hung and I could finish things up. The joke ends up falling on me. I literally let it all sit for a YEAR, blank walls, empty mantle. Just this week I got tired of looking at it and decided it was time to fix some things. Maybe some day (In a couple more years *wink*) I will actually take pictures of the whole room when it is finished but, it isn't done yet. For now I find myself happy at the progress I have made and knowing it is almost done.

I was going for something, but not to busy here. I was also trying to make sure it looks like "us". I added a vase with some sticks, literally sticks. A few candle holders and some cars that the hubby made years ago. We are car people, but you will see more of that when I show you the rest of the house ;). And yes, that is a gas can in the corner.

If the mantle looks a bit non-traditional, it is. We made it out of the bathroom door of the house the tornado destroyed. The door that we were safely hidden behind. When the husband suggested it, I couldn't say no. I am still trying to decide if I want to put the door knob back on.

{TWO} Summer Bucket List

So since I last posted this picture we have made no changes to crossing some things off our list. That should change this weekend though.

We WILL finish this list!

{Three} School

I almost cried last night when I looked and saw only three short empty weeks before the school year begins. I then took the time to plan out our day to day schedule for next year and I found that 1st grade is A LOT different than Kindergarten! Our work load this year has almost doubled.

But, on a happy note I am really excited about this year. It will be a lot more in depth and challenging which will be great for both of us!

{Four} Reminder

Such truth, in these words. Lord help me to be content in what you have given me.

{Five} My favorite work out tanks EVER!

JC Penney's Xersion Singlet Racerback Tanks. I adore them, I own 4 of them in various colors and patterns, sadly this is not one of them.

They are the BEST, light weight, great material, good quality and cheap!

That wraps up my Friday Five!

Here is hoping for a great weekend, do you have anything special planned?
