Friday Favorites: Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween!

I am honestly sitting here in shock. WHERE in the world did the month of October go?! Seriously I just don't understand (maybe I wasted it away watching baseball). I kind of was feeling a little bad since I was looking forward to the end of this month so much that I was wanting the first part to go by quickly. Well, it seems like my wish worked because *POOF* October is out of here.

This weeks Friday 5!

{ONE} Fall Bucket List.

We have had SO much fun working on this list. So much that I am feeling inspired to work on one for the Christmas season. Our list is not complete yet but it should be by the end of the day. We have a very busy, exciting day planned.

{TWO} Half Marathon Weekend

Oh my word guys, it's here!

I registered for this race at the end of May and it is FINALLY here. This is going to be half marathon #2 and my first big out of town race. I am beyond excited and just a tiny bit nervous. It is supposed to be in the mid 30's on Sunday morning so the weather is intimidating seeing I am not a fan of running in the cold. But I am confident this race is going to be great.
I can't wait to dish out the details next week.

{THREE} My New Fall Dress

In case you missed it I posted a product review for eShakti yesterday showing off my favorite new dress.

Yup, I am completely in love with it.

{FOUR} Trick Or Treat

I am so excited that tonight is Halloween but a bit bummed at the temps. Current low for tonight is 40 degrees. Bummer for the kids.

We are heading over to my husbands parents house for pizza and some trick or treating. They have a great neighborhood with sidewalks. lots of porch lights and friendly faces. Plus it is so nice knowing that we are close to somewhere warm where we can retreat if it gets to be to cold for the girls.

{FIVE} Secret Santa Book Exchange

If your a book lover you should make sure to check out this super fun book swap that Courtney, Jenny and Elizabeth are hosting.

My New Fall Dress

I was shocked and thrilled when I received an email from eShakti inviting me to try one of their dresses.

I am pretty sure I spent the next 2 hours staring at the computer going through page after page of options that I had. They were all stylish, beautiful and not your everyday department store dress. After MUCH deliberating I finally chose one

A color blocked wine and plum dress with a retro twist. I have always been a fan of things with a vintage flare and this dress was everything vintage that I love. But, it was still so modern and current at the same time.

Now let's talk about the fit. eShakti has their sizing done perfectly. You can order a dress in a size, or you can order a custom fit.

Custom fit? What?!

A huge reason why I don't already own any dresses like this is because they NEVER fit. I can never find a balance in length, shoulders and chest sizes. This dress was made from MY measurements making it a perfect fit for MY body.

It fits like a glove, a beautiful glove at that.

The only thing that makes me a bit sad is how memorable this dress is. It is one that won't easily be forgotten. Which means people will notice if I decide to live in it. Which I am half tempted to do.

And did I mention this dress has pockets? Pockets guys. I LOVE a dress with pockets!

Definitely a new wardrobe favorite.

Thank you so much eShakti for letting me try out and share your amazing company.

It's The Little Things: Carving Pumpkins

Monday night was our annual " Newman family pumpkin carving party". Earlier that day the girls and I brought them in to get them all ready. First I cut the top off and let the girls take a peek inside.

She wrestled off the lid.

Saw what was inside...

and then smelled it. She wasn't impressed.

It is funny how every year even I am still caught off by just how gross it is to clean out a pumpkin. It just doesn't get easier girls, sorry. I tried to convince her to stick her hand in and clean it out. She just wasn't having it.

I printed off several face options and let them choose their own pumpkins face.

Don't even ask because I don't have a clue. I think she was admiring how clean the inside of her pumpkin was.

"Take a picture mom!" Ummm, okay!

Marissa really wanted to try out tracing the face on. I think she lasted about 10 seconds before asking me to finish it up.

And then she grabbed my phone and took this picture. I REALLY hope Emily wasn't licking the pumpkin. Whatever they were doing, they thought it was hysterical.

Later that night when Dad came home we sat down at the table together and carved this years pumpkins.

I do believe they turned out pretty well!

We're almost done now. If only I could find a leaf pile to play in.

Fall Bucket List: Pumpkin Patch

We finally made it to the pumpkin patch this weekend! It was an unseasonably warm mid 80's kind of weekend in Missouri so we decided to make it a morning trip to avoid unnecessary sweating. The girls and I loaded up and hit the road Saturday morning.

Fredrickson Farms in Carl Junction Missouri.

We aren't annual pumpkin patch visitors and there has been a year or two this patch didn't even open the last time we were here was in 2011. A lot has changed since then.

We walked around the farm.

Checked out the pumpkins

and walked around the fields for a while.

I managed to snap this random photo. I love how much these two love each other.

Best friend and worst enemies for sure.

Then we picked out our pumpkins and headed home.

But not without stopping for a picture first.

Must, stop, blinking.
It really does seem like this was just yesterday.

Fall Bucket List: Family Day Trip

Russ took the day off work on Friday. The girls and I had co-op in the morning but the whole family was plan free the rest of the day. Such an awesome rare occasion. Nowhere to go and nothing we had to do. It gave us the perfect opportunity to get out of town.

Yup, that's us. We are a classy bunch if I may say so myself. I don't think it takes long to tell who takes after who by looking at this picture. If the hubby wants to "sabotage" my picture with his goofy expressions I'll just post it anyways :).

We quickly decided to head down to Arkansas. A few months ago we visited an art gallery down there and we decided a second trip would be nice.

After a busy morning and a card drive we decided to stop at a park and let the girls play for a bit. Wise choice on our part if I may say so.

Next stop, Crystal Bridges. I don't think this place could ever get old. It is so beautiful there.

We didn't spend as much time in the main gallery this time. We quickly walked through and found the kids area.

Interactive art

Marissa worked on a scratch art project while Emily played with blocks.

Then we headed outside. I love that there is so much to do AND explore there.

It was perfect weather for a walk on the trails. We had wanted to do that last time but it was SO hot in July!

The fall air smelled amazing, crunching leaves underfoot and raining down on us.

It was great.

We made our way back to check out the new pop art exhibit.

Yarn art.

This pieces was HUGE and done out of fabric.

Art in motion.

This telescope was constructed of all of the little pieces punched out of the wall.

Interactive art exhibit. Using bells to hit a balloon with,

Another great trip to what is becoming one of my favorite places.

Plus a couple more things crossed off of our list. Who knows we might just get our list completed after all.

How was your weekend?
