Easter Recap
What a weekend we had and by the amount of recap/highlight posts I have been reading it seems we are definitely not the only ones.
I thought it would be fun to do a brief recap of Easter weekend and scatter some pictures I took Sunday morning throughout. The pictures aren't exactly what I hoped for I imagined no jackets, sun shine and happy girls who weren't saying how cold they were between clicks. But, you take what you can get, right mamas?
Let's start with Friday. Friday night I was able to attend a Good Friday service at a local church with my BFF. Good Friday has always been a favorite service of mine and this one certainly didn't disappoint. It was a Tenebrae service and I left feeling so hopeful.
Saturday morning was race day. Russ and I ran a 5K together. It was his first my.... well I've lost count. I'll gladly share all of the details on how it went but you will have to come back tomorrow for that.
Next we took the girls to a friends house for an egg hunt then dropped them off at my parents to attend another Easter celebration party. Those girls had an exhausting day.
(Oh that Emily)
While the girls were gone Russ and I enjoyed a quiet lunch at Qdoba where I made the upsetting discovery that my favorite burrito is about 1120 calories. With that weighing on my conscience I chose a little more wisely this time. Ignorance truly is bliss folks. Goodbye chicken queso burrito, goodbye. After lunch I spent some time cleaning the house uninterrupted and he worked on the project car uninterrupted. It really is the little things friends. Later the girls came home and squeezed in some bike riding and grilled pizza was on the menu for dinner. I love grilling pizza.
Easter day was not the warm sun shining day we were hoping for. We went to church, had a wonderful lunch at Russ' parents house and came home where I kept saying I was going to start a fire. We had rain, clouds and chilly temperatures.
Things were a bit to wet and cold for egg hunting outside so we hid them inside instead. Add in some candy eating followed by snuggling and the weekend/spring break was over.
The weather may not have been ideal but that didn't stop us from celebrating our Saviors defeat of death.
He is risen!
Now it's your turn to link up and join the fun.
An InLinkz Link-up
Definitely a bummer about the chill! I recall snow on one Easter in CO. oh man that is a killer burrito!! Ignorance is truly bliss ha.
ReplyDeleteWe also have a Good Friday Tenebrae service...it is a favorite. Such a wonderful reminder of our Savior's love!
ReplyDeleteThese are great pictures! Sweet girls. Our pictures from Easter are hilariously bad...but that's what happens when a 1.5 year old doesn't want to sit. :)
Your girls are ADORABLE! Also, I have made the discovery that Qdoba isn't as healthy as I would have thought.... big bummer, but I just go for it anyway! YUM! Now I'm hungry!

Precious girls! Looks like a wonderful time!
ReplyDeleteYour little girls are soooo cute :) You had a busy weekend! Luckily, although we have had some rain/snow in the Midwest lately too, the weather for Easter weekend was absolutely gorgeous! Jealous of your 5k;) And grilling pizza?! We have never done that, but we eat it almost once a week, so that sounds wonderful <3
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun weekend! Too bad the weather was a little dreary, but it looks like you made the most of it! Love the girls' dresses (and yours, too!)
ReplyDeleteHe is Risen, indeed! Looks and sounds like you all had a
ReplyDeletegreat Easter weekend. I love all of the pictures. Your girls sure are little
beauties!!
What a great weekend, your girls are too cute, even when they don't want their picture taken.
ReplyDeleteI think we've had an Easter like that before. You should NOT need a coat on Easter. Just not cool man!
ReplyDeleteYeah. It is like the size of you face but I have been guilty of eating the whole thing. I wish I had never looked.
It is such a good service! I had never been to a formal Tenebrae but I really, really enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! I can COMPLETELY relate Emily has ALWAYS been a handful to take a picture of and even at the age of 4 I rarely get a really good shot of her looking at me.
Thank you :). I know so disappointing isn't it! Maybe it is the crazy size of those burritos. I opted for crunchy chicken tacos Saturday. They were no queso burrito but still tasty.
ReplyDeleteHappy Tuesday!
Thanks Kelly :).
ReplyDeleteThank you so much. Me to, me to. For naturally curly hair I think it is the prettiest I have ever seen. They are just the right amount of curl and very even. I wish I had those curls most days. I dread the day when she doesn't love it so I try to make sure I tell her how pretty they are on occasion :).
ReplyDeleteThanks Liz :). It was pretty busy. I just hate how unpredictable Midwest weather is. I know A LOT of states and areas deal with that but it just feels like a roller coaster ride when you get all 4 seasons in a week. It is supposed to be 80 here today!!!
ReplyDeleteGrilled pizza, oh yes it is SO good. We do it that way in the summer so we don't have to heat up the house for our weekly pizza night. I just put the gas as low as it can go and shut the lid. I also usually pre-bake the crust (on the grill as well) first. Try it!
It was fun, can we go back :)?! Thanks Becky.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE, love, LOVE when I get that reply. So thanks for making me smile :).
ReplyDeleteHaha, thank you so much. Poor things. Mom HAS to have her pictures though, right?!
ReplyDeleteI know right? I keep trying to tell my kids, if you just smile this would go twice as fast, LOL. But I do love those picture when they aren't smiling and just goofing off and being silly.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great weekend, despite the cold weather on Sunday. I haven't been to a Good Friday service in a while, but my old church used to have a tenebrae service too, and it was really good. Love the girls' dresses, and sounds like they had a fun time with all their activities! I've heard of so many people grilling pizza but we've never done it, and I'm anxious to try it this year. Do you make your own?
ReplyDeleteAwe, the girls looked so pretty! I'm really going to have to get my act together once I have to start doing girls hair in the mornings, ha! Wyatt's is easy! So glad y'all had a great weekend, and some quiet time.
ReplyDeleteAll of you looked so great in your Easter wear! Loving the dresses on all of you.
ReplyDeleteHow awesome that you had a free afternoon to get some things done around the house. Only tiny jealous of that. :)
Can't wait to hear all about your 5k!!
I had never attended a forma Tenebrae service. I REALLY enjoyed it, I really hope to make it a yearly tradition.
ReplyDeleteYou need to try it. I do make my own. I just turn all of the burners down really low and use masa to keep it from sticking. I also pre cook the crust on the grill since we like a really thin crispy crust.... and now I'm hungry :D.
Thank you so much Ashley. I am pretty lucky right now. Marissa's hair is so short it's quick to fix and Emily's is so curly its hard to do anything with really. Haha. I LOVE fixing their hair. I really just need someone to fix mine :).
ReplyDeleteLol you sound EXACTLY like me, to the word friend.
ReplyDeleteAaahhh thanks Desiree! It was pretty fabulous. I probably should have taken a nap but.... no regrets. It was nice to clean without someone simultaneously destroying something.
ReplyDeleteI'm terrible at hair! Hopefully I'll get better with lots of practice! :)
ReplyDeleteAshley
Lots of practice you'll get. Plus thank God for Pinterest :)!
ReplyDeleteWhen it comes to calories, ignorance really is bliss. Especially at the Cheesecake Factory. You just don't want to know how many calories are in that slice of cheesecake! Oy.
ReplyDeleteAlso, grilling pizza?!?! Share more?!
Your Easter sounds fabulous and can't wait to hear more about how your and Russ' 5K went!
Your girls are so cute! I'm so glad you had a nice Easter!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Stefanie!
ReplyDeleteIt really is. I am kind of hating myself for looking, I never should have.
ReplyDeleteIt is so easy, the only way I cook pizza in the summer! I just turn all of the burners down really low and use masa to keep it from sticking. I also pre-cook the crust on the grill since we like a really thin crispy crust. Maybe I'll do a blog post on it. It seems a lot of people are interested!
We didn't have great weather around here either this weekend, so we did the indoor hunt as well! Great pictures!
ReplyDeleteBummer! Well, at least we found a way to make it work. That is what moms do after all 😊.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!
Have to hate food calorie epiphanies like that! My sister started Weight Watchers and knowing how many calories I am eating is a real drag :) I am glad you made the best of a cold and soggy Easter, you all looked too cute!
ReplyDeleteI know right?! The more you calorie count the more you become aware to. I can’t even believe the insane amount of calories I used to consume in one meal. It was CRAZY.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
I have always wanted to grill a pizza but we haven't done it yet. I think we need a pizza stone and our last one cracked in half a few years ago...
ReplyDeleteYou actually don't need a stone to grill pizza. A gas grill works best though. I guess I am going to have to write a blog post on it. There has just been so much interest in the process. I'll have to look and see where I can squeeze that in .
