Friday Highlights 1.16.15
FRIDAY!!!
This week was a fast one, thank God! Now if only the next 2.5 months would go by this quickly and spring could arrive with all of its sunshine and glory!
Anyone else?
Sadly, for now I will have to settle with temperatures above freezing for the first time in weeks. Maybe we can even (FINALLY) go outside and play!
{ONE} Camera Strap
I put together this tutorial on how to make your own camera strap... out of an infinity scarf!
It's a genius idea really.
I guarantee you that I will be making more of them soon!
{TWO} Forerunner 15
This year for my birthday the hubby surprised me with a Garmin Forerunner 15.
I couldn't be any more in love. It works great as a running watch (something I have wanted for over a year) and it doubles as a fitness watch too. I am constantly amazed by the amount of steps (or lack thereof) that I take on a daily basis.
It also keeps track of how much I move when I sleep, beeps at me if I am still for "to long" and all sorts of other fun, crazy stuff.
If you have been thinking about a fitness watch, I highly recommend this one.
(This is not a sponsored or affiliate recommendation. I just really like it that much.)
{THREE} Photography Classes
On Monday I brought up that I was learning to take pictures in manual. I was surprised by how many of you commented that you were to or you wanted to. We also all seemed to agree on how intimidating it seems. After finding out I was not alone I wanted to share with you a link that is full of resources for free online courses.
I am currently working my way through #4 on that list but would eventually like to try more of them out.
You can also follow this Pinterest board I share with a friend for more photo tips that we find helpful.
{FOUR} Chop or Not
Yesterday I asked your opinions on my hair.
Should I keep the same style I have had (me in the top photos) or change things up a bit?
So far the consensus is pretty torn...
But the appointment is scheduled and I will have to make a decision by Wednesday at 2:00
{FIVE} Race Season
Race season is coming and I'm feeling ready?
Maybe not so ready if I am being completely honest.
The schedule goes something like this:
2/14 Run with the wind 25K relay (I run the 3rd leg 5.2 miles)
4/4 Amazing Grace 5K Joplin, MO
4/26 OKC Memorial Half Marathon Oklahoma City, OK
5/16 Joplin Memorial Half Marathon Joplin, MO
After that I will set some new goals for the summer and fall.
I definitely have my work cut out for me over the next 3 months.
Looks like it is time to get a bit more serious about things in the gym.

Have a great weekend
We hope to see you back here on Monday!
I meant to comment on your hair and say- chop it! But I'm all for changing it up hahha. It is super pretty long, but you could always grow it again
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your hair next week! Have a happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteThat watch sounds great. I hope to get something like that for this summer.
ReplyDeleteHappy Friday, gal! I'm starting to learn how to shoot manual too, so thanks for sharing the resource link! I love your long hair, but I also totally think you'd look great with the shorter do! I cut my long hair off in December and haven't regretted it. It's taking some time to learn how to style short hair, but it's a nice change! Thanks for adding to The Pick!!
ReplyDeleteYay!!! Perfect timing then. Good luck on the change from what I hear you definitely won't be sad you made the switch.
DeleteMy hair cut appointment is tomorrow, I am SO excited!
I have been eyeing the Forerunner for the longest time. I received the Nike+ watch, which I like, but I'm hoping to save a little cash to get the Forerunner. I've heard nothing but great things about it!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see what you decide to do with your hair. Whatever you choose it will be gorgeous!
Also, just a bit jealous of your race schedule. I'm already ready to get back into the swing of things… Too bad the farthest I've been able to go these days is 4 miles. HA!
I would say chop it! It's hair and it'll grow back if you don't like it! and there are all types of fun accessories to help you get used to it.
ReplyDeleteThe no sew camera strap is awesome and I'm going to make one!
Too bad you aren't running OK in March... I will be there and we could MEET IN REAL LIFE!
ReplyDeletei love the short hair ;) so cute.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it?! My appt is tomorrow and I still don't know how short I am going to go!
Deleteoh so tomorrow is the big hair day!!! Exciting. Can't wait to see what you decide either way. Partly I'd love to see how you'd look with the short hair, partly I like longer hair better haha. But hey, it'll grow back either way.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, can't wait to read that tutorial!!! So awesome! And thank you for the list of resources. Checking that out now! And I can't wait to see what you decide with your hair. I am torn, too! I love your hair now, but think the bottom right would look great too!
