Tuesday Talk: Home School Resources

Welcome to week 3 of Tuesday Talk!
We are so glad your here and hope that you will link up with us today!

We are homeschoolers...

I still find myself a bit surprised when I tell someone we are a homeschooling family for the first time. It truly was was a path that I never planned for or expected to take. But here we are over halfway through our second year and loving it.

I am asked home school questions on a weekly basis. Questions about everything from why and how we came to the decision to home school our kids to what curriculum and resources we use.

Today I wanted to share with you some of my favorite home school/ educational resources that we have used and loved over the past year.

This is a great website for free spelling word lists. It offers them from 1st through 8th grade.
We do lots of writing, and sentence dictation in our curriculum but it has been nice to add weekly spelling lists to our routine without adding a cost.

Turtle Diary games has been great for a large variety of educational games for all age levels.
They also offer printable worksheets on a variety of subjects as well.

I have used this resource countless times in my Little Artist series. It is great for looking up project ideas or my favorite part, elementary level artist biographies.

Teachers pay teachers does require you to have an account and not everything is available for free. Having said that I have found and downloaded several helpful free resources from them. It is always a great place to keep in mind when looking.

This has definitely been my favorite resource for math games this year. Marissa hasn't always been a huge fan, (they are not always the fun super animated games) but I think learning wise they have been the most beneficial.

Soft Schools has several subjects and grades available.

This is my most recent and quite possibly my favorite discovery. We have been doing a lot of animal science lately and the girls have really enjoyed their videos. They are fun filled and just the right length that little sister loves to watch them to.

We also enjoy watching Wild Kratts which can be found on Netflix to.

Perfect for super early learning all the way through Pre K.

Emily frequents this site on a weekly basis. Her favorites have been coloring and puzzles.

And of course how could I not add Pinterest to the list.

I have several education boards that I use almost daily. I used to lump them all into one but I found that is took me entirely to long to locate what I was looking for (if I ever found it at all). I keep my boards broke down into subjects to keep me organized. I also think this is great for my followers too. Someone interested in my Preschool board may not be ready for S.S. pins

Make sure you check out my Pinterest profile and follow along for more great ideas.

  3. You are seriously a rock star. Though I don't think homeschooling is for us, a lot of these tools sound like great resources that can be used at home, regardless!

  8. Mason will start Kindergarten this fall and we are so conflicted. Our neighborhood was zoned to a school district over 16 miles from my house and we're not 100 % happy/okay with it. There is literally a (better) elementary less than 3 minutes from my house. We have no clue what we are going to do. I would love to homeschool, but I work a full time job from home. I am saving this just in case we go that route! Thanks for the information!

  9. Thanks for sharing these! I've been wanting to start doing some things with Wyatt. Have you tried ABC Mouse? I just wondered if it was any good.
