Happy Friday Friends!
The week after a holiday weekend is always so hard isn't it?
We ever so quickly get spoiled with all the family and down time making it so hard to get back into our routine. By the time we finally do the weekend is here again already.
I hope you had a wonderful Fourth and a great week. It is so hard to believe that the peak of summer is past us and the start of the school year is closing in fast.... but let's not talk about that right now.
Onto this weeks Friday picks.
{ONE} On The Blog This Week
There was A LOT going on, on the blog this week. Let's do a recap.
Saturday was a little Fourth of July greeting.
Sunday I shared about the 2015 Kids Classic.
On Monday I recapped our holiday weekend.
Tuesday I shared a "how to" post on grilled pizza.
Then on Wednesday I talked about life currently.
{TWO} Garden Update
It's been a few weeks since I have showed you some garden photos and boy have things changed. I have been picking a few tomatoes, pepper and everything else is slowly coming around. I have came to the decision that this just isn't going to be a great garden year. We have simply had to much rain. But at least it hasn't ended up being a total bust.
July 9, 2015
Sunflowers are about ready to bloom.
Zucchini have gone crazy.
Tomato jungle.
Baby Butternut
Banana Pepper
Sugar baby. I made it a little hammock to grow in.
{THREE} Bake it up
Okay I admit that ^ was a bit cheesy. But in my defense I spend most of my days with little girls.
Since we have been spending ridiculous amounts of time a the pool this summer I have gotten a little extremely behind in the kitchen. I usually keep all kinds of home made goodies on hand from bagels, muffins and breads. When the temps dropped into the 60's this week and it decided to rain for 2 days I was finally able to get a small stock pile back in the freezer and boy is the hubby happy about that. Here are a few favorites new and old that we love to keep around.
Cinnamon and Spice Sweet Potato Bread
Double Chocolate Zucchini Bread
Cinnamon Swirl Bread
Now you see why I am so sad eating my egg whites while everyone else is enjoying yummy breads like these.
{FOUR} The Oregon Trail
Hands up if your favorite class days were the ones spent playing The Oregon Trail in the computer lab?
Well now you can relive those childhood days by playing it online for free.
I would be embarrassed to admit just how much time I wasted when I discovered this :).
{FIVE} Girl Mom
This week Amanda from Tickled Pink guest posted in my 'Girl Mom' Series.
She shared about a few lessons that she has learned being a girl mom.
I just love Amanda and her stories, recipes, photos and adventures.
Make sure you stop by her blog to learn more about her sweet family.
If you're interested in sharing your story about being a girl mom fill out this survey and I will be in touch.

I cannot even go there with Oregon Trail or I'm sure I would waste so much time playing that! I love it! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteYour garden!! I'm so envious of your green thumb. Seriously, amazing.
ReplyDeleteAll those breads. Yes. I'll take a loaf of each please. :)
Have a fabulous weekend!!
Love that grilled pizza tutorial! Your garden looks amazing!! Also, Oregon Trail?! Loved that game!!! I had no idea you could play that online, I'll definitely be checking that out!

Love your garden!
ReplyDeleteYour garden looks awesome, and how precious are your girls??!!
ReplyDeleteOMG your bread section was killing me! I've been wanting to make these chocolate zucchini muffins that I have a recipe for and then I saw your bread and now I want to make that! So good!
ReplyDeleteAlso, you're killing it on your garden! It's growing so well!
Happy weekend friend!
Lol. I know right. I tried to avoid it, gave in and my whole family died except me. How depressing is that?!
ReplyDeleteHappy Friday!
Yes you will! Just keep saying that :). I'll give tips anytime. It's a little love, some work and a whole lot of luck.
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend!
Thanks lady I just still don't get how I can do that.... but I can't keep a house plant alive to save my life.
ReplyDeleteYou too!
It is pretty fantastic, more like chocolate cake really.
ReplyDeleteOh me too, the care free life :).
Have a great weekend!
Thank you so much.
ReplyDeleteIt was the best game ever really. I recently discovered it too. The first time I played my whole family died except me... talk about depressing.
Have an awesome weekend!
Me too :)!!! Thank you.
ReplyDeleteThanks! The little hammocks crack me up but the idea of a busted melon just makes me cringe :).
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!
ReplyDeleteHappy Friday!
That bread is UH-mazing. Seriously, you could pass it along as chocolate cake. I only put about 1/2-3/4 c chocolate chips in it and it is perfect. I WILL be making it again soon.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
Happy weekend to you too.
P.S. I love that I can read your comments and know that it is you before I even see your name :).
Lol, cholera or disentary probably!
ReplyDeleteThat before/after pic of your garden was incredible!!! It really took off in the last few weeks. That little hammock for the melon was just so funny :) I feel behind on the baking too... mainly because it's so hot that turning on the oven doesn't sound appealing. I would LOVE a few rainy days in the 60s. That's my favorite kind of weather. That Cinnamon Spice Sweet Potato bread looks delicious. Pinning! Hope you all have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteOh my word! Oregon Trail! Ahh! I love it. :) I may have to check it out at nap time, but I also have to start packing up a bit, so maybe I shouldn't. Lol!
ReplyDeleteLol, I know right. The first time I played everyone in my family except me died.... that was enough to keep me away from it for a little while.
ReplyDeleteHappy packing :).
That is so true! The holiday weekend was one of those that
ReplyDeletewe wished we could have had just a few more days! This Summer seems to be
flying by. When do you start back school? Mason starts Monday, August 24th.
I’m not ready and praying these summer days start slowing down. Those breads
sound amazing! I’ve never attempted homemade breads (I know, I know!! Haha) And
sadly, I don’t remember the Oregon Trail. I mean, something about it is
familiar…but I don’t remember anything about it.
Oh, my!! That double chocolate zucchini bread looks uhh-mazing!!! I need to find some time to make that soon. And your garden is awesome!! I think we've decided on a spot for ours for next spring. I'm already excited about it!
ReplyDeleteIt is SO good. Pretty much it is just a fantastic loaf of cake. I didn't add quite as many chocolate chips as the recipe said too but it was perfect. Thank you! That is really exciting girl having a garden is simply the best.
ReplyDeleteWe go back on August 10th!!!! Can you believe that?!?! I know it sounds awful but #1 that was my choice since we home school & #2 I'd rather get out at the first part of May. After the swimming pools close, what is the point ;).
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness girl you gotta fix that and bake up some bread soon :).
That garden!!! And those bread recipes! Oh how I hope to get the motivation to start making that stuff!!! But it's so hot to be baking....I'll just have to figure it out!
ReplyDeleteOregon Trail!?!?! What!! I'm so excited. Literally the best part of going to the computer lab back in the day!
ReplyDeleteI know right?! I still laugh when I think about the days when I thought paint was really cool too 😊. I should let Marissa play with it and see what she thinks.
ReplyDeleteIt is SO hot to be baking. It all worked out so well for me. I NEEDED to get some baking done and we had 3 VERY random 60 degree day. It was just to perfect to pass up especially in July!
