Friday Favorites 9.5.14

Another week, another Friday!
I am happy to say that we are wrapping up week #4 of schooling today. That means we have been hitting the books for almost a month now.

Can it be winter break soon?!

Let's get to business with this weeks Friday Five!

{ONE} Pre K: A is for Apple

Our Pre-K approach will be pretty laid back. I wanted to start something with her but I was not ready to get to crazy with the planned curriculum. This week we did A says "A" for Apple.

We worked on writing the letter A. Used some resources from A Teaching Mommy's apple tot pack and worked on an apple craft. Which meant, I took a piece of paper, drew and apple and had her glue little pieces of paper to it. I love me an easy kids craft. Big sister had fun helping to!

We are loving Pre-School!

{TWO} Awana Club

Marissa went to her first Awana meeting this week. I always get so nervous dropping her off at an unfamiliar place where she doesn't know very many people. I have to remind myself that it is good for her. She needs to learn certain skills and that may mean being uncomfortable. I left a very quiet, reclusive little girl and picked up a little lady with a huge smile who was begging to go back before we left!

I am so excited to see how the year goes.

{THREE} Bagel Love

Just in case you missed it, the Pumpkin Spice Bagel recipe I was talking about last week posted.

I can't get over how easy bagels are to make! After thinking about other fall flavors I spent sometime in the kitchen on Monday experimenting. I made an apple cinnamon bagel that might just be my absolute favorite, EVER. I will have to post that recipe sometime soon.

The other bagel hit in our house has been my Cinnamon Crunch Bagels. Make sure to check out that recipe to.

{FOUR} Guilty

I may or may not be guilty of this one ;).

Speaking of running! I registered for the 2015 Joplin Memorial Run half marathon this week! So excited to get to be a part of such an awesome race again.

Shortly after I registered they posted this

I'm kind of a big deal, HA!

{FIVE} Fall decorating

So I got out my fall decor on Monday. I personally feel that I should be applauded because I did wait until September 1st. The fall decor has been displayed at Hobby Lobby for over 2 months now.

While "decorating" I realized my fall decor and decoration selection stinks. How is it that a lady that has 3, yes 3 Christmas trees only has 3 strands of leaves and a wreath for fall decor. In my defense I am a firm believer that holiday decor is better off to be accrued over time, not bought all at once. But I am sitting in pretty sad shape guys. I spent some time on Pinterest and I found these

Looks like I need to go dig through the hubbies wood scraps and tools and get to work.

Have a great weekend!

  1. Loved AWANA as a kid...I went all the way through from Cubbies to Varsity. It's so good to grow those foundations (scripture memory and discipline) early so that kids won't depart from it. Awesome job, Mom! Looks like pre-K was fun! I LAUGHED OUT LOUD at that meme and pinned it. SO TRUE! Happy Friday!

  2. Those wood pumpkins look awesome! and I love your apple project! I might even try something like that with Callie as she loves to use a glue stick or even better glitter glue! :)

  3. Those sweet little apples are adorable and remind me of my days teaching preschool and Kindergarten before becoming a stay-at-home mommy!

  5. oooh I like the pumpkins! My holiday decor is like my most prized possession. When we moved back to FL from CO we had to sell/dump a bunch of stuff to fit in the moving pod...and I was like I'm keeping the futon and all my decorations, the end. It definitely grows each year.
And I love the apple craft!

  6. My big running goal.. like the IT RUN, is a half. I'll get there one day. I have a goal to do it before I'm 35. That gives me 3 years. I can do that right?

I'm looking forward to your school year. I'm making notes and pinning your posts so that I can work with Connor.
