Tuesday Talk: Project Fair 2015

Welcome to another week of Tuesday Talk.

We are so glad your here. We would love to have you link and mingle with us this week.

Becky from BYBMG, Beth from Our Pretty Little Girls, Whitney from Polka Dotty Place, Elizabeth from All Kinds of Things, Tara from Mrs.Coach Sims, Keri from Living In This Season, Sarah from Abiding In Grace, Lauren fromSimply Free , Andrea from Mitchael Journey, Jessica & Katie from Sweet Little Ones, Mandy from Almond Place, Teressa from Teressa Jane

Today's post is about my favorite first grader and her very first project.

Every year our home school co-op host an annual project fair. The rules are easy, there aren't any. Anything goes art, science, literature, history whatever you kid wants to do. Marissa being an animal lover and slightly infatuated with Wild Kratts chose to do her project on her favorite animal, the Panda.

That girl worked and worked and then worked some more.

I could have taken a hundred photos of her doing this, because she worked for around an hour every day for two weeks.

Finally all her work payed off and she ended up with a pile of papers ready for her board.

That handwriting. She works so hard on hers and embarrassingly enough it often looks better than mine does.

She assembled her board (with some help).

Then she practiced her presentation

and practiced some more.

Finally the big day was here. I watched as she proudly displayed her work.

Then presented her project to her class.

This mama's heart was so proud it could have burst into pieces.

Marissa I am SO proud of you and your hard work.
I am so lucky to call myself you mom and teacher.

I love you!

Speaking of home school...

I receive a lot of questions about this topic so I thought it would be fun to do a blog post focused on answering your questions, anything and everything.

If you have a question for me, leave it in the comments or send me an email. I will do my best to answer what I can in an April blog post.

Now it's your turn grab the button and link up.

Project Sunday 2015: March

A big goal for this year has been to take more pictures.
One way I decided to do this was with weekly Sunday before church pictures.
Here are the recaps from January and February.

March started off pretty cold, but it is definitely starting to warm up. We were able to take some of this months pictures outside but for the rest we were still stuck indoors.

Not sure why Emily put her hands over her eyes like this but she thought it was pretty cool.

Love these sweet girls and that they laugh when I say silly things like pickle face.

No church this week and I BARELY managed to remember to snap a photo after a long day of fun. Emily is also spelled H.A.M in case you didn't know.

Loving these outfits. Those leggings, that tunic. So cute!

Someone got a haricut! She would keep it this short all the time if I would let her. Sadly, they were not into the pictures this weekend.

March brought spring, new clothes for spring and the promise of lots of outdoor time. I can't wait for April and more warm weather.

How was your weekend?

Friday Highlights 3.27.15

Hello Friday!

I am beyond excited for this Friday to finally be here.

1. Today is our co-op project fair. Marissa has been working on her Panda Bear project for weeks now and it has all led up to today. This is her first big project and I couldn't possibly be more proud of her hard work.

2. Spring Break baby! Woo-hoo!!! We waited for what felt like forever but it is finally here at last. Of course we do have achievement testing to deal with Monday and Tuesday morning, but the rest of the week we are free. To bad the forecast is showing rain pretty much every day next week. At least it is supposed to be warm.

{ONE} Spring Bucket List

Earlier this week I shared our spring bucket list

I am thinking that spring break will be the perfect time to start marking things off of our list.

{TWO} Home School Questions

There are two areas in my life that I get a lot of questions: Exercise/running and all things home school. For several people I think I am "the home school friend". You know, you meet a homeschooling family and find yourself saying, "Oh I have a friend who home schools."

I have received so many questions that I thought it would be fun to do a blog post focused on answering YOUR questions, anything and everything.

So have at it, if you have a question for me, leave me a comment or send me an email. I am hoping to have a post up later next month.

{THREE} Insta Life Lately

Show of hand from those who love Instagram

What's not to love.

Wednesday I did a little IG recap. Check it out or better yet just find me on Instagram.

{FOUR} Burn Baby Burn

A couple weeks ago I discovered I had packed on a few pounds over winter. I tried to blame it on my shorts shrinking and as much as I would like to do that we all know the real truth. Ever since then I have been on a mission and let me tell you, that was just the fuel I needed to get my fire going.

Here are a few random things I have learned.

* Jumping Rope is a serious calorie buster and not for the faint hearted.
* Condiments are evil, especially butter... I love butter.
* Portion control is key.
* My gym membership is finally worth what I pay for it.
* Counting calories does not mean starving yourself.

I may share more about my journey once I survive a month.

Girl Mom Series: Keri, Living In This Season

When I first heard that Beth was going to be doing a Girl Mom Series, I was beyond excited. Last year, I had participated in the Boy Mom Series over at Chasin Mason and it was so fun talking about superheroes, dirt, and crazy boy stuff. But, friends, after having 2 boys you better believe I love talking about all things girl

Honestly, as soon as I found out I was pregnant with baby #3, I just knew it had to be a boy. When I was about 18 weeks pregnant, I went in for a doctors visit with my mom and grandma who were visiting from Michigan. We had been out and about, so they just came along and my doctor sweetly offered to do an ultrasound so they could see the baby. It was then that we found out little baby #3 was a little girl. Such a special moment to share with my grandma and mom. We have gone through a lot over the years and it just seemed like such hope and promise in that moment.

Now here I am with an almost 10 month old precious baby girl. I cannot imagine life without her. There really is just something unique and special about the bond you have with your daughter.

As I think about my daughter growing up, there are 4 things I hope for her.

Girl Moms

1) I hope she finds her identity in God, not in boys or herself or material things.
2) I hope she has confidence to be her unique self.
3) I hope she overflows with grace and love to others.
4) I hope she laughs and loves life.

There are many other hopes and dreams I have, but for now, I am enjoying her sweet little baby phase. She already is way more active than my boys ever were- perhaps that is what happens when you have 2 older brothers. She is starting to love snuggling with stuffed animals and it just melts my heart. Daily I look at her playing with her brothers, and I am filled with overflowing love and amazement. Even in the midst of crazy moments, there really is something special and incredible about being a mom.

Insta Life Lately

Happy Hump Day!

Finally the middle of the week, hooray. I usually don't get to excited over the weekend this early but next week we are finally on spring break. This mama can not wait. I am praying it is the perfect time to recover, rest and prepare ourselves for the last 5 weeks of school that we will have left! Come on May 7th!

I love Instagram, I really really do. The past couple months I have been putting a bit more effort into my account. I have been trying to grow it, engage more and up the quality of my photos. Today I wanted to share with you a few of my favorites over the past month.

A cupcake celebration on my one year blogiversary.
This would be a great photo to keep taking every year.

So it started out like this. She was not impressed with the 2nd grade curriculum starting to pile up...

then this happened.

I almost felt bad for her, then I remembered I am her teacher.

Classic. Emily the girl of a million expressions and Marissa completely oblivious.

I picked some Daffodils on Saturday. Hello Spring!

A selfie. What's an IG recap without at least one?!

"Look mama, I'm fixin the car" She truly lives up to her shirt. She is so cool. Build mama's car real fast baby girl then we can go for a ride.

Late night shopping trip with my Kohls buddy Anna. I looked so classy in my early 2000 athletic pants.

One of the verses from Marissa's handwriting work book. She handed it to me, I read it and my heart exploded.

Let it be so!

Friday night I somehow managed to not only see but photograph one of the prettiest sunsets I have seen in a very, very long time. It was beautiful.

So that's a little bit of our life lately via Instagram.

If your not already following me I would LOVE to have you.
