Friday Highlights 7.3.15

Hello Friday!

The first day of a 3 day weekend and almost the Fourth of July, glory!
This weekend has lots of family time, summer bucket list items and plenty of fun planned.
So let's not waste any time and get our regular Friday routine started!

{ONE}  On The Blog This Week

This week the hubby was back for another round of "The Guy Behind the Blog".

I did a tutorial on how you can put together a quick, easy and inexpensive hoop canopy.

And I recapped my June goals and set some new ones for July.

{TWO} Favorite Kid Fireworks

With the 4th coming up tomorrow I thought I would take a moment to share a few of our favorite kid friendly fireworks.

One of the first years we did fireworks this was the result.

Who would have ever thought that one tiny little frog could cause such a scare. Just because it looks like a kid firework doesn't mean it will sound like one.

Evil little frog.

Now days we tend to stick to the quieter things.
Sparklers, Snap n' pops, Smoke bombs, Roman Candles and Parachutes.
If you do decide to go with the little chickens, tanks or frogs, be warned!
But more importantly be safe!

{THREE} Insta-lately

If you follow me on Instagram (and you should) you may be noticing a lot of pool pictures lately. It seems we have taken up residence at the local public pool spending almost ever afternoon there. I would say that this is having a negative affect but since the house isn't too dirty since we aren't home much and we don't have school too do, why not?! Here are a few favorites from the past month.

{FOUR} This Is Living

Ever since VBS my girls have been completely obsessed with this song.

Last Friday while listening to it for the millionth this month something happened in my heart and I was suddenly aware of just how beautiful their worship is to Him. He never gets tired of hearing the same words of praise over and over again from His children.

My eyes teared up with joy at the worship erupting in our home.

{FIVE} Girl Mom

Katie from Cup of tea guest posted in my 'Girl Mom Series' this week.

I have had some pretty amazing posts over the past few months but I do believe this one just might be my new favorite. You'll smile, you'll cry. It is a MUST read for all.

If you're interested in sharing your story about being a girl mom fill out this survey and I will be in touch.

  1. Great recap! You hightlighted some areas that I'll have to check out. So sorry about that darn frog. I've never seen it,but I think I'll stay away from it as well. Great capture of how it scared the kids. Hope you enjoy your 4th. Have a great one! ~Lowanda

  3. I'm going to have to have my boys listen to that song. I love it!! No crazy fireworks here in Iowa, though I heard they may try to lift our ban... Hoping to break out sparklers!

  4. Oh my, those fireworks pictures! Poor girls. Mason usually does pretty well with them, but I think the loud noise does kind of scare him a little. We plan to celebrate with sparklers :)
PS I love the way you change up your "Friday Favorites" header thing for each month and make it festive!
    Happy 4th weekend friend!

The most inconspicuous fireworks are always the ones to be the loudest/scariest it seems! I've been searching high and low for sparklers, but can't find them anywhere! I'm guessing due to our drought they've been banned. *sadface*
LOVING all the pool pics! Summers aren't summers without endless days spent at the pool.
    Have the best weekend!

  6. Lol. Definitely do. I am SO glad that I thought to snap those pictures instead of comforting the kids right away. Does that sound terrible? But really, we have laughed at those photos every 4th since that happened 😊.
Hope you had a great one too!

  8. It is such a good song isn’t it?! I hope they love it too! I can not imagine living where fireworks are banned. That just seems so wrong to me, lol. What is the 4th without bottle rockets?! Hehe he!

  9. It was terribly sad but I am SO glad I took those photos. They give a me a really good laugh every year 😊. Our girls both did great this year and loved lighting them. I guess a lot has changed.
Thanks! It makes me smile that someone actually notices 😊.

Hope you had a great one too!

  10. I know, right?!?! Who would have thought a little frog would shriek so terribly. It was awful!
Did you end up finding any?

Amen, amen. We have swim lessons this morning and more pool time planned this afternoon too!

We went to a party and the hosts had sparklers! Apparently sparklers aren't sold in our town, but are in all the neighboring towns (which literally touch each other). So weird.

  12. That is so weird but at least you got your hands on some and know, FFR 😊!

We have some pretty fantastic aquatic centers here. It didn't always used to be that way though :).
