Weekend Recap: Snow, Selfie & Sleds

Hello Monday!

So if you've been reading my blog for any bit of time you know how I feel about Mondays. I hate them, I loathe them. They really just make me want to cry. But today, today I am feeling pretty optimistic

This weekend was a great one, we pretty much hand nothing planned all weekend and that was pretty fabulous.

It all started at 7:00 at the local gym. It was cold, snowing and I had 8 miles to run. The only thing worse than running 8 miles inside a gym is running 9. It was TERRIBLE. So hot and so hard. I can't wait for day light savings time and warmer weather soon.

After the gym, I came home and collapsed on the floor. When I was finally was able to stand up again I made cinnamon rolls then baked and blogged while the girls played and Russ worked on the project car.

Movie Snuggles

I baked 6 loaves of bread French, English Muffin and Cinnamon Raisin.

Mean while it snowed and snowed and snowed.

Sunday was church, grocery shopping, more garage time, massive amounts of laundry and playing in the snow.

We have the perfect house for sledding. Living on a hill has benefits.

Sometimes the weekends where you don't really have anything special going on can be the best.

Now as for Monday.... game on Monday #bringit.

How was your weekend?

  5. Running at the gym totally sucks!! I feel your pain on that one! You are super woman for pushing through!

  6. I feel like I run so much longer at the gym than outside. Haha we had a very low key weekend as well and it was perfect. Does the whole family grocery shop together or do you go solo?

  7. Because it take an eternity to get one mile? UGH it is awful.

Low key is the best really. So relaxing.

Both the whole family goes to Aldi right after church then I drop them off and I go finish up the shopping at the Walmart market place by myself.

  8. YES!!! It is so terrible, I wish I never had to do it ever again lol. Thank you so much. I didn’t feel like a super woman at the time 😉.

It is so good and so easy to make.

I hated that hill until I found out just how great it is for sledding. Now it can stay.

  9. Oy. Treadmill running is truly the worst. It's like every .1 miles takes an ETERNITY!
Also, I'm going to need you to just go ahead and become my personal baker. That bread - YUM!!!!
Bring it Monday. Just bring it (insert fist bump here).

  10. I know!!! I have heard that treadmill miles should count as double… I’ll take it.
Haha, you got it friend. I LOVE making bread it is just so fun and simple once you overcome being scared of yeast.
    Let’s do this. Monday doesn’t stand a chance 😉.

  11. How did you make that yummy bread and where did you find the recipes?! English muffin bread? I've never heard of that! Do you have a bread maker? I have so many questions! lol. I might just need to come over to test that bread and make sure it's ok for you guys to eat ;)

  14. How about that snow?? We made plans earlier in the week last week to go up to Fayetteville. I kept an eye on the weather all week, even Friday morning...no snow in the forecast. Then, what do you know, about half way up we hit snow. And you're right, it snowed and snowed and snowed. Wyatt is definitely learning all about snow this winter.
That bread!! Mmmmmm...carbs are my love language. ;)
So glad y'all had a great weekend!

  15. So you go up to Fayetteville, I go down. Where are you lady?! I didn't realize you were somewhat close! I am in Joplin, Mo. A drive to Fayetteville is about an hour for us.

I love carbs too. Not much beats some yummy bread for this girl.

  17. It was great. The bread may have been my favorite part :).

    Thank you so much!

  18. Haha! We live in Camden, AR, basically an hour and a half South of Little Rock. So, we're about 4.5 hours from Fayetteville.

  19. So is some of that bread going to be at grandma's house tomorrow??? Please say yes???? ;) ;)

  20. Oh wow, that is quite a trip for y'all then.

  21. Well I have a Kitchen-aid so that really helps with all of the kneading. I started making our bread almost 2 years ago and I make around 85% of the bread we eat from scratch. Most of my recipes come from Pinterest, trial and error until I find something we love. I can send you some pins if you'd like. I don't do a bread machine, I find the bread it makes to be way to dense.

Bread making is all about properly letting your bread rise and not killing your yeast.

Come on over we can stuff our faces and I'll teach you all of my tricks.

  22. Haha! Well around half of it is gone already.... those pigs (I obviously had nothing to do with it). Or maybe I have just been drowning my emotions by eating carbs :(, ugh.

Maybe I'll bake up some kind of bread for grandma's house eventually though :).

  23. Um that bread looks amazing!!! Please share the recipes! I need to make more bread in my life. It's really not as daunting as I make it out to be, just like pie!!

  24. 9 miles on a treadmill? Nice work! I love running, but I just have so much trouble with treadmills. I use only when absolutely necessary. :)

  25. Everything about that weekend sounds awesome! Eight miles inside totally sucks though -- I hear that! I'm too ready for warm weather and getting the BOB back out and the dog some much needed exercise! Home made bread, cinnamon rolls, blogging, sledding - sounds like a great weekend!!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Yes everything was, except for that run 😉. I am SO ready for spring, take me away.
At least we get day light savings time and more sunshine in our lives soon.

  27. I do so much better running inside than outside. In CO I couldn't breathe because of the cold air, so painful for me. And in FL it is too dang hot. I'd love to have a treadmill again. I might actually be motivated to run again. Cinnamon rolls however sound awesome. Aria and I have been on a baking kick - waffles, muffins, and pancakes thus far. Maybe cinnamon rolls next! Good thing they are so healthy. =) So english muffin bread...never heard of it. Is it all nooks and cranny inside?

    ReplyDelete
  28. Yeah those are two pretty extreme conditions to run in. Here in Missouri it is just so darn unpredictable. However I still hate treadmills. My form fills all wonky on them, it just feels so unnatural for me.
Baking kick…. Mmmmmm, you should totally make some cinnamon rolls, they sound SO good right now. Maybe I will make some too. The ones from Saturday came from a can so they don't count 😉.
It does, it is super easy especially compared to making actual English muffins, which I have done before.
